Maintenance de véhicules terrestres

Ground vehicle maintenance

Turgis Gaillard operates in the land mobility sector, carrying out maintenance and renovation operations. Our technical skills originate from the integration, in 2018, of Graffeuille, a recognized specialist in the sector, founded in 1959 and which has enjoyed exceptional growth. Thanks to a program of constant investment in the acquisition of know-how and the renewal of talent, Graffeuille has today become a center of expertise in civil and military land vehicle propulsion.

Graffeuille is the story of a passion for mechanics and customer service. The example of our two founders, Mr. and Mrs. Graffeuille, who are often in our minds, encourages us to spare no effort to always do better.

Technical expertise

On a day-to-day basis, our teams are mainly involved in the overhaul, repair and modernization of mechanical sub-assemblies:

  • Internal combustion engines with displacements ranging from 4 to 30 liters, mainly diesel technology, but also gas or spark-ignition engines (gasoline engines).

“Around 600 engines go through our shops every year.”

  • Manual, robotized or automatic gearboxes.

“Between 1,000 and 1,200 gearboxes go through our shops every year.”

  •  Transmission systems.
  • Injection and ignition circuits

Our area of expertise covers the main European and American brands, on which we carry out the full range of maintenance and repair operations, with a complete warranty.

On leaving our shop, the sub-assemblies are as good as new! And even better than new: we're more careful and meticulous than the robots who mass-produced them.

We also perform larger-scale projects:

  • Design of specific engines for particular applications: engines for special-purpose vehicles or industrial motors (generators, pumps, machines, etc.).
  • Retrofit of special-purpose vehicles, particularly tracked or wheeled armored vehicles. These operations include the renovation or replacement of mechanical sub-assemblies, engine replacement, obsolescence management, upgrading of operational capabilities (electronic systems, air conditioning, armor plating), interior refurbishment (paintwork, upholstery, driver station, etc.), bodywork, etc.
  • Vehicle repair.

Operations are mainly carried out in our Rouillac and Briec workshops, but mobile teams can be deployed for repairs or technical assistance.

We work all over France and across the globe. The strength of our company lies in the fact that we have a large stock and unique know-how on older generations of engines.

The teams are distributed across:

  • five engine shops, each with specific expertise in major brand families with shared characteristics;
  • a gearbox workshop;
  • a transmission system workshop;
  • a workshop for reconditioning of cylinder blocks, cylinder heads and crankshafts;
  • an approved Bosch Diesel Center workshop for injection pump maintenance and repair (approval 419);
  • six complete engine test benches, designed for up to 1,200hp;
  • a workshop for painting and packing for shipment;
  • three warehouses with over 4,000 part numbers, including 500 engines ready to be shipped worldwide as standard replacements for emergency repairs.

We don't leave anyone in the lurch: when they call on us, customers can be sure of getting a solution in less than 48 hours, even at the other end of the world.

As with all the Group’s high value-added projects, these technical skills are complemented by robust program management, to guarantee control of the most complex programs.

Areas of intervention

Work is carried out for:

  • Private and public operators who own and operate trucks, trains and machines:
    • rail operators (regional trains, locomotives and diesel- and gas-powered rail maintenance equipment);
    • operators in the road freight (trucks) and passenger (buses and coaches) transport sectors;
    • operators of urban passenger transport networks;
    • public works equipment operators.

For these applications, a service offer is available in the form of engine leasing with associated maintenance. This eliminates the need to purchase an engine to power your vehicles, thus optimizing your operating costs.

  • Industrial prime contractors, who design, manufacture and support trucks, trains and machines, and who need specific engines, on a one-off basis or in small batches, for new fit or standard replacement:
    • Manufacturers of armored vehicles. From small wheeled troop transport vehicles weighing 10 tons to main battle tanks weighing over 60 tons.
    • Manufacturers of special-purpose machinery: public works, mining, industrial vehicles, railways, etc.
    • Manufacturers of mass-produced trucks and buses, to manage obsolescence.
  • Through-life support of military equipment. Turgis Gaillard works for the French and allied armies, and for some of Europe’s leading prime contractors:
    • through-life support of engines, e.g. for the French VAB armored personal carriers, military engineering vehicles, VBCI infantry fighting vehicle, etc.;
    • retrofit of complete vehicles — the teams carried out a retrofit program for the M113 and another for the wheeled armored vehicle (VBRG – VXB 170) for the French Gendarmerie Nationale.

Sensitive to environmental issues, we offer decarbonization solutions for road transport of freight and passengers, converting diesel engines to alternative fuels, and we regularly work for public operators of gas-powered buses.
